Sweet Corn Press is a Milwaukee based design collective that makes art about contemporary issues.
Our mission is to make art that advocates for our communities.
Through art we can educate others and be a hub for expression and belonging.
HOW WE STARTED
Sweet Corn Press started as a collaborative exhibition with an emphasis on digital media, print, textile work, community building and community interactivity. The collaborative was born with the initiative to bring together like-minded individuals and express their feelings through multiple mediums of work.
The name Sweet Corn was inspired by agriculture which is hard, backbreaking work that emphasizes the value of labor, collaboration, and coexistence.
Sweet corn is also a crop that is only fruitful when grown in groups. It becomes the perfect metaphor for our collective's mission to cultivate community in trying times.
We only reap the fruits of our labor if we grow together.
